How to Wear Leggings

LEGGINGS 101: A Step by Step Guide

Per request from one of my good friends I have decided to also do a how-to blog on leggings. They are a very versatile item to own and can be a much more fashionable (and comfy) alternative to jeans.

Step 1: Let's start with the basics

  • These days you can find leggings in every color and style imaginable, so I can imagine how shopping for a pair could be overwhelming. If you are a newbie in the leggings world I would recommend starting with black or brown.
Step 2: Cut

  • The most popular length for leggings are ankle length (which flatter everyone) but you can also find those that hit mid-calf. For me, being 5'2 I steer clear of these because they tend to make my legs look chunky! Mid-calf leggings are more for the tall and lean girl.
Step 3: Proportion

  • Speaking of chunky, lol, let me just say that I embrace being a curvy woman and I strive to show that fashion is not dependent on your weight...BUT the main issue I see with leggings are that (thicker) women do not pick leggings that will flatter their bodies. For example, if you have a Nicki Minaj booty do not try and wear leggings as pants, you will cheapen the look and add pounds that aren't really there. Also, darker shades are always flattering, but I know my true fashionistas will want to step outside of the box. Printed leggings are HAWT right now, my trick to balancing out my curves with the print is wearing an over-sized tunic in a neutral shade.
Step 4: Invest in Items to Pair with Your Leggings

  • I think leggings look best when paired with a flowy top or dress, tunics or a short skirt. My rule is if you are going to keep it tight at the bottom, keep it flowy at the top and vice versa.
 Step 5: Shoes

  • You can wear heels with your leggings but I wouldn't pull out the 6 inch pumps! They look best paired with ballet flats, boots, moccasins, boots and especially oxfords.

Here are some looks for you to try...

I really hope these tips and pictures helped you guys out! Leggings are fun, enjoy experimenting! Until next time my fellow fashion dolls, remember make fashion simple then add a touch of glam :)

Haw-wwtt Winter Coats

Let me start off by saying that winter is my favorite time of the year because I love the attire that goes along with the season. I’m all about the sweaters, scarves and layering. Unfortunately, most of my friends express that they hate the cold weather and that it makes it hard for them to wear a cute outfit, due to having to wear a coat. So I have compiled a list of fun and flirty outerwear that will enhance your outfit without making you appear bulky. Let the fashion games begin!

Nail Trends: What to try and What to Ditch

I told you all I would be back very soon, ha ha ha. I really enjoyed creating my first post yesterday (<---see me sporting the animal scarf trend!) so I decided to have some more fun with my fellow bloggers. Enjoy loves :)

OMBRE NAILS
Ombre just basically means the graduation of color. You have seen various stars such as Khloe Kardashian rocking the ombre look in her hair but this trend has now moved down to our nails. I have personally been wanting to try this out for awhile but I have yet to find a manicurist with the skill to achieve the look, but for those of you are fortunate enough to not live in a college town I say GO FOR IT. They are glam-tastic and you can choose from a variety of colors.

BLING, BLING GLITTER NAILS
So this is a picture of my latest manicure and I have received SO many compliments on them. A lot of women like to add glitter to their nails with a polish but I have found a much better technique. The same materials a manicurist uses to apply glitter to the tip of your nail, just have he/she apply it to the whole nail. This process lasts a lot longer than polish due to the lack of chipping and best of all no drying time!

NUDE NAILS FOR MY PLAIN JANES
Since every woman does not like for her nails to be very flashy or for those who do not have that option (due to your job etc) I have found the perfect solution for you. Nude nails are not only sophisticated but they match every outfit. The Dior polish to my right looks gorgg but for my frugalistas brands like Revlon or Essie have many options as well.

Now for my trends to DITCH....

JUST SAY NO TO CRACK!!!
OK, I know the picture is cute but I am SO OVER crackled nails. I too, at a point in time loveedddd crackle but after awhile it just started to look tacky. This look, like so many other trends, had it's time. And like most good things, they eventually must come to an end. Just let it go...now.

ANIMAL PRINT NAILS *sigh*
Let me just start by saying I wore zebra nails to my high school prom... that was back in 2009! Why people are still checking for this look I do not know. I think this is great for the 13-18 crowd but any older you just start to look childish and dare I say... tacky! And it's not just zebra, I see them in cheetah and leopard as well. Leave the wild kingdom nails to the kiddies...please.

Well that is all for now world, I hope I gave you all some useful nail tips to try out this season; and remember make fashion simple then add a touch of glam.

Au Revoir!

Weaved Up!

Its Jaz' here, & i said, yes I said it...i am WEAVED UP and glad about it! The hair is ModelModel Equal Pretty Curl 18in in a color 1B. I did a full sew-in (no leave-out) using two and a half bags & its cost??? 10 dollars. Now it is a blend of hair, meaning that it is not fully human but not fully synthetic either. While I would NEVER purchase a straight hair weave that is synthetic in any form, I don't mind doing it with a curly 'do. Curly hair requires much less wear and tear to be put on it than straight hair and can become even cuter as it ages and frizzes. I've had this hair for about 2 weeks now and its not very much maintenance at all. To care for it, I just use a vent brush to detangle and Wave Nouveau Moisturizing Finishing Mist to soften and define the curls. To preserve the hair I sleep with a bonnet at night. You can also put the hair into big twist at night if you are looking to further preserve the curl. The hair does tangle and shed, which is to be expected, but its not unbearable. I plan on keeping this hair 2-3 more weeks. Below is a shot of my hair on the first day I did it and a shot of how it looks now that its 2wks later. (<----- Day 1 on left, Day 14 on right ---->)

Notice how in the day 14 shot, the hair is bigger and the curls slightly looser. See, told ya, gets better with time if ya ask me ;)

My Favorite Items of the Moment

Hello blog-dolls, welcome to my first post! Sorry it is coming so late! But I am excited to begin dropping my style-savvy knowledge on the masses. #LEGGO

BLAZERS, BLAZERS, BLAZERS... BLAZERS!
This is probably my favorite item on the list solely because of its versatility. I love buying pieces that can transition from day to night. I usually wear mine with a nice pair of skinnies, but you can pair them with a dress or skirt and be just as fly-yy.

KNUCKLE RINGSS
Knuckle rings are so edgy and cool and most importantly inexpensive. I have found some great ones at Sam Moon or Forever21 for under $10! My collection just continues to grow :) These fabulous pieces of jewelry are perfect for everyday and if you want to pump up your glam-swag for the evening just find one with lots of bling.

FUNKY FUR VESTS
70s fashion is back in action from the Farrah Fawcett waves to palazzo pants! But the most "groovy" item thus far has to be the fur vest trend. Stars from Rihanna to Rachel Zoe have been rocking the look and it is hawt, hawt, hawt. The best thing about this look is that it is easy to imitate without spending celebrity mulaa... Don't be afraid to try new things, stick with a neutral shade (brown, black or tan) and pair with a cute top and you have now become a trendsetter.

TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE
Animal print scarves are legit to say the least and like knuckle rings my collection keeps getting bigger and bigger. They come in many patterns such as cheetah, zebra or python and not only do they keep you warm they instantly jazz up an outfit. On a lazy day I love to wear a basic tunic and jeans, then throw on a scarf. People won't even know you got dressed in ten minutes!

I hope you all enjoyed my first post, expect more to come along with video posts very soon; and remember make fashion simple then add a touch of glam.

OOTD !

Hey dollies, Jaz' here with an outfit of the day! I believe the day was 11/29/11....not too cold out, it was probably around the mid 60s. Hope you all like!

Very simple outfit, denim shirt & leather leggings. Minimal jewelry, I'm only wearing black and gold stud-style earrings, hidden by my hair and I know you cant see the shoes from this pic so I'll provide pics below

Just a pair of snakeskin flats to add a little flair to the outfit.

This outfit is perfect for school, or just a day out running errands. You can be casual but still look stylish & be comfortable and practical on a chill breezy day.

:)
